Thaipusam is observed by the Hindus, in particular in Singapore and Malaysia. Thaipusam is derived from the word Thai the Tamil month of Jan-Feb and Pusam which is a star that is at its highest point during the festival. In Singapore, devotees will carry kavadis and vessels of milk (palkuddam) and walk 4.5km from the Sri Srinivas Perumal Temple at Little India to the Sri Thendayuthpani Temple at Tank Road.
